The competitor of SC “Shumenska Krepost” Mariyan Petkov and his coach Galin Metodiev received new recognition for their excellent performance in the last sports year. The lady was honored by the Bulgaria Press Club and the club’s sponsor BURNiT at an official ceremony for “Impressive Performance” in 2022. The 17-year-old athlete Marijan Petkov was presented with a special statuette with the figure of a kickboxer. The award of the Shumen is because of his world title low kick style for juniors up to 19 years old at the championship in Jesolo, Italy. His coach, Galin Metodiev, received the Silver Falcon badge, a symbol of courage, determination and the drive to win. Stylish plaques for the two were also prepared by the sponsor BURNIT.

“What I want most this year is to win a gold medal at the World Championships for men and women in Barcelona,” said the fighter from the club “Shumenska Krepost” – club No. 1 in kickboxing in our country, after the ceremony, reports the press club “Bulgaria. “I understand that I have achieved something big, but I have to continue,” commented Marian.

Coach Galin Metodiev also plans for his 17-year-old graduate to prepare for participation in the biggest men’s sports forum without missing the European and World Junior Championships.

The specialist bets on several major tournaments in the men’s training program, with the strongest competition being the World Cup in Hungary, where all the kickboxing aces compete. A camp with the national team is planned in Varna together with competitors from other countries. The club in Shumen also provides excellent conditions for training. Unlike many other clubs, sparring partners are not a problem in “Shumenska Krepost”: “We have many sparring partners, top competitors – men,” said coach Galin Metodiev. The key to the rise of the club is the dedicated work with the children and the trust between the management, coaches and competitors, revealed Metodiev.
